The Low-Carbon Artisanal Process
Unlike mass-produced home decor that relies on heavy machinery and fossil fuels, our collections are created using human energy and traditional tools. From the hand-hammered copper of our lighting to the hand-loomed wool of our rugs, the "carbon footprint" of our production process is exceptionally low. We celebrate the power of the hand, which requires no electricity and produces no industrial waste.
Living Materials & Biodegradability
We prioritize materials that are born from the earth and can eventually return to it. Our commitment to organic, biodegradable resources includes:
Sustainably Harvested Fibers: Using Raffia palm, Agave-based Sabra silk, and local wools that are shorn using traditional, ethical methods.
Earth-Derived Pigments: Utilizing vegetable dyes, indigo, and saffron to color our textiles, avoiding the harsh synthetic runoff associated with industrial textile factories.
Recyclable Metals: Our lighting and decor are crafted from solid copper and brass, materials that are infinitely recyclable and last for generations, reducing the "throwaway" culture of modern interiors.
The Rejection of Toxic Chemicals
To protect both our clients and the artisans, we avoid the use of toxic lacquers, formaldehyde-laden glues, and synthetic finishes. Many of our pieces feature "living finishes" that are left raw or treated only with natural oils and waxes. This ensures that the air quality in your home remains pure and that our artisans are not exposed to harmful fumes during the crafting process.
Small-Batch & Made-to-Order Philosophy
Overproduction is one of the leading causes of environmental degradation in the design industry. At Tifiras Design, we operate on a small-batch and made-to-order model.
